A living body measurement apparatus that is a double purpose system serving as a muscular tissue hardness tester for measuring the hardness of a muscular tissue in the body a living subject and also serving as a tenderness tester for measuring the pain sensation level of the subject, comprising a first contact face (40a) to be brought into contact with the subject, a contact section (40) for applying pressure to the subject, a second contact face (26a) to be brought into contact with the subject, an auxiliary section (26) which is held so that the second contact face (26a) reciprocally moves between a coplanar position located almost coplanarly with the first contact face (40a) and a backward position located backward with respect to the first contact face (40a), and locking units (32, 33) for locking the auxiliary section in the state where the second contact face (26a) is located at the backward position.
