The inventive technique includes devices and methods for generating a mag netic field. One such device may include an inductor for generating a magnet ic field and a power source for providing power. Such a device may also incl ude a semiconductor switching device that operatively couples the inductor a nd power source, wherein the semiconductor switching device directs power fr om the power source to the inductor to generate the magnetic field. |
