PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas recirculation device unsusceptible of influence of a deposit with a simple structure. SOLUTION: A control valve 30 is arranged in a recirculating flow passage 28 communicating with an exhaust flow passage 26 with an intake flow passage 16 of an internal combustion engine 1, and the recirculating flow passage 28 on the upstream side of the control valve 30 is brunched off into an exhaust gas cooling flow passage 32 provided with an exhaust cooler 36 and a bypass flow passage 34 bypassing the exhaust cooler 36. A flow regulating valve 38 capable of adjusting a rate of an exhaust gas quantity flowing in the exhaust gas cooling flow passage 32 and the bypass flow passage 34, is arranged in a branch place between the exhaust gas cooling flow passage 32 and the bypass flow passage 34. A valve element 40 of the flow regulating valve 38 is alternately switched between two positions in response to an operation state of the internal combustion engine 1, and the temperature of recirculating exhaust gas is controlled by adjusting the rate of the exhaust gas quantity flowing in the exhaust gas cooling flow passage 32 and the bypass flow passage 34.
