PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of designing a tire capable of efficiently obtaining the optimum design element as the whole of a tire and capable of designing a tire having better performance. SOLUTION: This method of designing a tire includes a step (b) for obtaining the optimum solution of tire structure, which optimizes a target function, fixing a tread pattern shape by using a tire FEM model, and a step for computing for optimization so as to obtain the optimum solution of the tread pattern shape, which optimizes the target function, fixing the tire structure. In the step (b), computing for optimization about the tire structure is performed by using a tire model having the tread pattern shape optimized in a step (c) just before. In the step (c), computing for optimization about the tread pattern shape is performed by using the tire model having the tire structure optimized in the step (b) just before.
