1,000,368. Batteries. SOC. DES ACCUMULATEURS FIXES ET DE TRACTION. Feb. 5, 1963 [Feb. 6, 1962], No. 4721/63. Drawings to Specification. Heading HIB. A metal hydroxide is introduced into a porous metal structure by precipitation from a solution of cadmium nitrate, nickel nitrate or cobalt nitrate, or from a solution of both cobalt and nickel nitrates, said solution containing sufficient free nitric acid to prevent premature hydroxide precipitation and cupric ions to inhibit the reduction of the nitrate ions present. The porous metal is sintered nickel, the cupric ions are present as cupric nitrate and the metal hydroxide is precipitated by the addition of an alkaline solution. The porous metal structure is the electrode of an alkaline nickel-cadmium storage battery. Specifications 331,540 and 487,607 are referred to. |
