<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a plurality of deformed-cross-section handrails to be connected together even if joints have handrail mounting portions in the same cross-sectional shape. <P>SOLUTION: A handrail connecting member 4 is provided between the handrail 1, and a connecting joint 3 for connecting the handrails 1 or the handrail 1 and a wall surface. In the handrail connecting member 4, a cylindrical joint-side fitting portion 10 for being fitted into the connecting joint 3 is provided on the side of one axial end, and a tubular handrail-side fitting portion 11 for being fitted into the handrail 1 is provided on the side of the other axial end.
