<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To insert black without increasing the operating frequency of a scanning signal line driving circuit and with low power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The scanning signal line driving circuit 4 has a function of simultaneously applying a selection voltage to all scanning signal lines G1 to Gn. A data signal line driving circuit 5 applies a display data voltage for displaying black to data signal lines D1 to Dm, while the selection voltage is applied to all the scanning signal lines G1 to Gn. Thus, the display data voltage for displaying black is written in a pixel circuit 10, without drastically increasing the operating frequency of the scanning signal line driving circuit 4. The scanning signal line driving circuit 4 applies the selection voltage to the scanning signal lines G1 to Gn, according to the order of making the total light emission time between adjacent rows almost equal and the data signal line driving circuit 5 applies the display data voltage to the data signal lines D1 to Dm, according to that order.
