<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for display which effectively suppresses dthe degradation of contrast due to external light rays and is advantageous in cost and productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The filter for display includes an external light shielding layer in which a plurality of light absorbing portions are arranged in stripes.
