PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule having a guide face between a counter face at an optical connection end where an optical fiber retention hole is opened, and a ferrule side face, so as to facilitate insertion of the ferrule into a sleeve, wherein an edge portion with an acute angle that acts as a resistance on inserting the ferrule into the sleeve cannot be formed between the counter face and the guide face. SOLUTION: The ferrule for optical communication is a cylindrical ferrule for optical communication, which has an optical fiber retention hole penetrating from the optical fiber insertion end to an optical connection end and which has a counter face at the optical connection end, where the optical fiber retention hole is opened, and a guide face continuing from the counter face. The counter face is formed into a curved face having a first radius of curvature, while the guide face that is continuous with the curved counter face has a curved face with a second radius of curvature.
