PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reil reinforcing member which is mountable to both sides of a rail at any location of the rail without boring the rail, and to provide a method of mounting the rail reinforcing member. SOLUTION: The method is composed of the following steps. In the first step, adhesives are applied to a pair of the reinforcing members which have slots extending along a longitudinal direction, and connection portions formed at both ends thereof so that a connecting projection and a connecting recess are opposed to the connecting depression and the connecting projection of a counterpart, and then the reinforcing members are stuck to both side surfaces of the rail. In the second step, U-shaped fittings composed of a bottom sides and rise pieces on both sides are prepared, the bottom of the rail is supported by the bottom side of each fitting, and the rise pieces face the reinforcing members. In the third step, a bolt is penetrated into a through hole formed at the rise piece, and the tip of the bolt is inserted into the slot. In the fourth step, the reinforcing member is pressed to the side surface of the rail by a nut screwed to the bolt, and a pressed state is maintained until the adhesive is hardened.
