PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric body capable of having more superior high piezoelectric performance. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric body according to the present invention contains a ferroelectric substance phase having characteristics such that, in cases that an applied electric field is increased in intensity from the time free from electric field application, phase transition of the ferroelectric substance phase to a ferroelectric substance phase of a different crystal system occurs at least two times. The piezoelectric body should preferably be actuated under conditions such that minimum applied electric field intensity Emin and maximum applied electric field intensity Emax satisfy a relation (1) Emin<E1<Emax, a relation (2) Emin<E1<E2<Emax, and a relation (3) Emin<E1<E2≤E3<Emax, where E1 is the electric field intensity at which first phase transition of the ferroelectric substance phase begins, E2 is the electric field intensity at which second phase transmission begins, and E3 is the electric field intensity at which the second phase transition completely ends.
