PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for forming a housing member provided with a flange, wherein even the housing member provided with the flange, can secure the sufficient accuracy as a whole, and is advantageous in terms of the cost reduction and the workability. SOLUTION: The apparatus for forming a housing member provided with a flange is constituted so that at the upper part of a first die D1 (punch 10) for holding a forming blank W being the housing member provided with the flange, a second die D2 is arranged, and a pressing means 30 for ironing, to actuate the second die D2 and a die main body 21 for practically performing ironing, are supported with an outer peripheral supporting member 33 so as to obtain the separated bodies, and the die main body 21 is moved up and down with a die supporting means 40 arranged at the first die D1 side, wherein the die main body 21 is positioned at the boundary between the barrel part 1 of the forming blank W and a flange pre-forming part F, and the flange pre-forming part F in the forming blank W is pressed to form the flange part Fa, and the barrel part 1 of the forming blank W is subjected to ironing with the die main body 21.
