PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a width direction follow-up device of a metallic strip for simply adjusting the position in the width direction of the metallic strip and a metallic piece at low cost. SOLUTION: The width direction follow-up device comprises a base 1 arranged in the width direction of a metallic strip, a cylinder 4 for adjusting the height position of the base 1, a hinge 5 for fixing the position of the base 1, a positioning device 3 installed movably in the width direction of the metallic strip on the base 1, and a metallic strip width direction follow-up means 2 provided for adjusting the position in the width direction of the metallic strip in the positioning device 3 to hold both edges of the metallic strip. The base 1 has a tilting mechanism, and when the base is tilted, the metallic strip width direction follow-up means 2 approaches or is retracted from the metallic strip by the gravity of the device. As a result, the follow-up means is stably stopped at the predetermined position and follows up the movement of the metallic strip, thereby adjusting the position in the width direction with high accuracy.
