<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting device which can emit the light having a desired wavelength and a high luminance, and is excellent in life characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The semiconductor light emitting device includes the one wherein a nearly cylindrical outside cap 6 covers further the outer-surface side of a nearly cylindrical sealing cap 4, and in short, has a double cap structure. The emitting light emitted from a semiconductor laser element 2a positioned in a sealing region 12 sealed in an airtight state with the sealing cap 4 and with a stem 3a so transmits through a light transmitting body 5 supported by the sealing cap 4, and further, is so subjected to a wavelength conversion performed by a wavelength converting member 7 fastened to the outside cap 6 and having a predetermined light receiving area as to be able to emit the light having a different wavelength from the one of the semiconductor light emitting element 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
