PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic mail additional information service providing method, and a system for it automatically recognizing a character string showing a predetermined pattern among text content of a received mail and providing simple additional information related to the character string on content of the mail in association with the character string for allowing the user to widely use electronic mail services more conveniently. SOLUTION: This electronic mail additional information service providing method includes steps for: analyzing an information pattern for one or more character strings included in basic information of an electronic mail to be provided to a user terminal; and providing the basic information and additional information based on the analyzed information pattern to the user terminal. When an information area including the character strings among the basic information is designated on the user terminal, the additional information is output to the user terminal.
