<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that prevents a situation that an image can not be visually recognized or hardly visually recognized because of user's erroneous designation though the color of the image, while varying the color of a background on a display part. <P>SOLUTION: In a copying machine 1, the color designated by a user is set as the color of the image on the display part 15 and similarly the color designated by the user is set as the color of the background on the display part 15. Whether or not a difference between the colors designated as the colors of the image and the background is equal to or under a prescribed value is determined before setting, and a warning is displayed when it is equal to or under the prescribed value.
