PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic-field detection method which enables the stable and accurate detection of the magnitude of a magnetic field by alleviating the effect of noise. SOLUTION: The magnetic-field detection method using a magnetic impedance element and magnetic-field applying means for applying a bias magnetic field to the magnetic impedance element includes the steps of: obtaining as a first output waveform an output waveform generated in the magnetic impedance element when a bias magnetic field having a predetermined magnitude and a predetermined direction is applied by the magnetic-field applying means to the magnetic impedance element to which a time-variable voltage has been applied; obtaining a second output waveform by converting a negative waveform portion of the first output waveform into a positive waveform portion; and calculating the integral value of a cycle of the second output waveform and detecting, in accordance with the integral value, the magnitude of a magnetic field extending along the direction of magnetic sensitivity direction of the magnetic impedance element.
