A method for forming the coating layer which improves the engine block liner exterior wall surface so that the method have effect with a superior cohesive power and abrasion drawing of the engine block liner exterior wall inserted with the block during casting material is provided. As to the engine block liner exterior wall method of coating using the powder as the flame gunning material, gasoline and foreign material of the engine block liner exterior wall are removed, luminance is formed by using the engine block liner exterior wall sandblasting. The size of the powder is -90mum~+5mum. The powdery component selectively uses one among the Al alloy component in which Al-12Si or Si, Cu, Mg, Mn, Zn, Ni, and Sn is contained. And spraying so that the coating thickness be formed with 160~240mum, using one method is selectively used the thermal spray method among the plasma coating method or the frame coating or the high velocity oxy-fuel coating or the cold spraying.
