PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid imaging apparatus capable of performing pixel mixture without causing deterioration of quality such as unevenness of images or the like. SOLUTION: The solid imaging apparatus has a photodiode 200, a plurality of vertical CCDs 210, a horizontal CCD 220, and a VDr 110 for controlling charge transfer by the vertical CCDs 210. The vertical CCDs 210 include four or more charge transfer steps which operate as a barrier region and a well region according to applied voltages. The VDr 110 controls charge transfer by the vertical CCDs 210 so that the vertical CCDs 210 continuously transfer a plurality of packets which are charges transferred in a continued well region segmented by a barrier region, a standby period when charge transfer stops by segmentation of the plurality of packets becomes longer than the transfer period when charge transfer by packets is performed, and during the standby period, a charge transfer step operating as a barrier region becomes one step among four or more charge transfer steps.
