PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten possibility of playback of data from an optical disk. SOLUTION: When user data are recorded in the optical disk 100, a recording region R is divided into first to fourth recording regions R1 to R4, user data are sequentially recorded in the first to the third recording regions R1 to R3, an exclusive OR of user data recorded in a corresponding sector SC is calculated to form parity data and parity addition recording is performed for recording the parity data in a corresponding sector SC of the fourth recording region R4. When the user data is played back from the optical disk 100, the user data are sequentially read out, if non-correctable error data are found, user data or parity data are read out from a sector SC of the other divided recording region corresponding to an error sector SCr and an exclusive OR of the data is calculated to perform parity restoring playback for restoring user data of the error sector SCr.
