PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a winch drum wire winding method when installing a crane not requiring any exclusive device which is only used in installing the crane such as a wire tensioning device, and capable of reducing the cost for the initial purchase of the device and the maintenance therefor. SOLUTION: A wire 8 wound around a wire drum is once wound around a derricking winch drum 11 as an another winch drum. The wire 8 is successively wrapped around a sheave 14b on a top of a guy support frame 14, a sheave 5b at a fore end of a jib 5, a sheave 7a of a cargo hook 7, a sheave 5a at a fore end of the jib 5, and a sheave 14a at a top of the guy support frame 14, and connected to a hoisting winch drum 9 as a multi-layered winding winch drum. A tension-providing weight 15 is hoisted from the cargo hook 7 while the jib 5 is hoisted and supported by an another crane 20, and the wire 8 is wound around the hoisting winch drum 9 while delivering the wire from the derricking winch drum 11.
