PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid discharge device capable of evading an individual electrode from being short-circuited electrically with a common electrode by a liquid, even when a crack exists in a ceramic layer of an actuator unit contacting with a cavity unit. SOLUTION: This liquid discharge device 1 includes the cavity unit 2 having a plurality of nozzles 13 for discharging the liquid and pressure chambers 14 communicated with the nozzles, and the actuator unit 3 for generating delivery pressure in the pressure chamber 14. The actuator unit 3 has the individual electrodes 26 opposed to the respective pressure chambers 14, and the common electrodes 25 common to all the pressure chambers, between the plurality of layered ceramic layers 24. A barrier layer 24b not passing the liquid therethrough is layered in a position from a contact face 27 with the cavity unit 2 up to the individual electrode 26 located nearest to the contact face 27, and excepting the contact face 27, in the actuator unit 3.
