The device has microphones (14-16) and a signal processor (20), where ultrasonic signals (11) are received by the microphones. The signals are produced by an ultrasonic sensor and accordingly conveyed outside a pneumatic spring (1) by a leakage (10) of the pneumatic spring. The signal processor compares the signal received from the microphones with predetermined reference values, such that a decision about the tightness of the pneumatic spring is possible from the results of comparison.
