摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation member functioning as an optical filter, which is applicable, for example, for prevention of decrease in the sensitivity of a remote controller or its erroneous operation caused by near IR light exiting from a backlight device, to provide a liquid crystal display device equipped with the member, and to provide a composition for an alignment layer and an alignment layer as a material and a structural member of the device. <P>SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display panel 20, a liquid crystal cell is composed of a liquid crystal layer 1 and transparent substrates 2a, 2b opposing to each other as interposing the liquid crystal layer 1; and optical compensation films 10a, 10b and polarizing plates 3a, 3b are placed on outer surfaces of the transparent substrates. The present invention features that the optical compensation film 10a, 10b comprise retardation films 11a, 11b having anisotropy in the plane direction, alignment layers 12a, 12b containing a near-IR ray absorbing material, and optical anisotropy layers 13a, 13b consisting of liquid crystal molecules and having anisotropy in the thickness direction, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
