PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of setting a measuring area in a wide range and guiding sufficient light to a finder part. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus (camera CM) is equipped with: an incident part (photographic lens CL) making light from a subject incident; a main mirror 18 provided on the optical path of the light incident from the incident part, and equipped with a light control mirror 18a having a plurality of switching areas which can be alternatively switched to a reflection state where light is reflected, and a transmission state where light is transmitted; a sub mirror 19 reflecting the light transmitted through the main mirror 18; a focus detection part 20 having a plurality of measuring areas for measuring distance information to the subject by using the light reflected by the sub mirror 19 and transmitted through the respective switching areas of the light control mirror 18a; and a control part setting the switching area of the light control mirror 18a in accordance with the measuring area used when the distance information to the subject is measured in the focus detection part 20 out of the plurality of switching areas to the transmission state.
