The method involves rotating inlet and outlet camshafts into a same effect position, in which the camshafts are subjected without an effective torque, and locking the cam shafts. A crankshaft is rotated into an effect position corresponding to the camshafts. A traction mechanism is fitted around the inlet and outlet camshafts of a cylinder bank and the crankshaft. Another traction mechanism is fitted around the inlet and outlet camshafts of another cylinder bank and the crankshaft. An independent claim is also included for a method for dismantling traction mechanisms.
