<p>Intended is to provide a toothpick which can hold softness and tension to give a satisfactory using feel and which can avoid the damage of gums satisfactorily. The toothpick (4) comprises a body portion (7) and a taper portion (8) extending from the body portion (7) and sharpened at its leading end, and is formed of a bamboo material cut along the direction of bamboo fibers and to a predetermined length. In the lower portion of the taper portion (8), there is formed a first taper (9), which is so sloped from the bottom portion of the body portion (7) as to merge smoothly into the lower face of the taper portion (8), while leaving surface tissues (5) of the bamboo material at least on the surface of the taper portion (8). The surface tissues (5) of the bamboo material are also left on the surfaces of the body portion (7) and the taper portion (8). In the side portion of the taper portion (8), moreover, there is formed a second taper portion (11), which is so sloped from the side portion of the body portion (7) as to sharpen the leading end of the taper portion (8).</p> |
