Termination of an optical fibre comprising angled capillary and cladding mode stripper

A termination for an optical fibre 1 comprises a capillary 3 having a bore mounted so that an end portion of the delivery fibre 1 and an optical element or end cap 2 are mounted within the bore. The capillary 3 has an end which is angled so as to reflect undesired radiation within the capillary 3 away from the fibre 1. A cladding mode stripper 4 is arranged upstream of the delivery end. The optical element or end cap 2 may be connected to both the end of the fibre core and the cladding.
