LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY AND DRIVING METHOD THEREOF

A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to minimized EMI(Electro Magnetic Interference) and heat of a circuit by reducing a data transition between a lookup table and a memory for modulating digital video data to improve a response characteristic of the liquid crystal. A data transition transform unit(53) compares the transition number between previous data and current data, and selectively inverts current data, and generates the inverted signal. A memory(42) stores data from the data transition transform unit and outputs the stored data as previous frame data. A data transition inverter(54) inversely transforms data from the memory by using the inverted signal. A lookup table(51) selects modulation data for improving the response characteristics of the liquid crystal. A data compressing unit(52) compresses data and supplies the compressed to the data transition transform unit. A data recover(55) supplies the recovered data to the look up table by recovering the data from the data transition inverter by using the recovery algorithm corresponding to the compression algorithm of the data compressing unit.
