A stacked PTC thermistor and a method of manufacture thereof is provided to improve the jump property of a stack PTC thermistor and maintain room temperature resistor rate to practicable and small value. A stacked PTC thermistor(1) comprises a main body(4) and a pair of outer electrodes(5a, 5b). A semiconductor ceramic layer(2) and an inner electrode(3) are laminated by turns in the main body. An outer electrode is prepared in the both end sides of the main body. The outer electrode is electrically connected with the inner electrode. A semiconductor ceramic layer is made of a porous sintered body including a grain of a titanate-based barium compound. Alkali metal elements are omnipresent at one side of the grain boundary and aperture section of the sintered body.
