Treatment of yarns to give kinked and/or mot

The fabric comprises heavy warp yarns into which has been woven a filling yarn of relatively smaller diameter. The weaving pattern of the latter is such that it can easly be withdrawn when required. Whilst in composite form, the fabric is coloured to give a coloured or mottled effect and it may be heat-set to stabilise the yarn pattern. Upon withdrawing the filling yarns, the heavy warp yarns are left behind and are both coloured and kinked. In this form they may be reworked to form a further fabric which has a bulky, kinked or mottled effect.
