Organo-aluminium-magnesium complexes - used as polymn catalysts

Org. Al-Mg complexes and their solns. in hydrocarbon solvents are of formula (R3Al)n.(R'2Mg)m (where R is alkyl and R' is primary alkyl or aryl, m/n being 0.1 to 10). Prods. are readily sol. in hydrocarbons, free from ether impurities and may therefore be used as Ziegler type catalysts for polymsn. of ethylene or propylene in presence of TiCl4, or of 1,3-butadiene or 2-Me-1,3-butadiene in presence of TiI4.
