1,203,817. Rotary drum filters. ENVIROTECH CORP. 29 Aug., 1968 [21 Sept., 1967], No. 41225/68. Heading BID. The rotor of a drum filter (which may be of the travelling endless band type, Fig. 1, not shown) has its cylindrical surface formed of impervious moulded arcuate segments 36 which are imperforate and provide a drainage deck. As described, the surface of the segments is formed with axial ribs 42 which support the filter cloth and whose grooves 41 constitute the drainage deck. Ribs 42 are not radial but are instead normal to the segment chord, to facilitate moulding in plastics. Adjacent segments are bolted together at holes 39. Filtrate drains along grooves 41 and enters an arcuate channel 49 in the head plate 47. (There is one channel 49 per segment 36). From there it travels radially inwardly along conduits constituted by matching grooves 54 in facing discs 47, 48, which together constitute one head plate. (The other head 33 is plain). Filtrate thus emerges through a corresponding trunnion duct 53. Fig. 1 (not shown) discloses a manually adjustable tensioning roller (68) for the endless filter band. |
