Tetrafluoropolyethylene (pref. in the native, powdery form), which is neutral towards tissues, is used for therapeutic implantation or as a capping or plugging material for bones, joints or teeth roots. The tetrafluoropolyethylene may be used either in a lower molecular form a (on-adherent fine powder suitable for implantation into diseased joints) or hhigher molecular form (a flocculent material which is coherent under pressure, and therefore suitable for use as a plugging material in bone cavities or for the prothesis of joint sockets).
