The exchanger comprises a series of individual heat exchange units arranged in a ring external to a main casing, which contains the headers and inlet and outlet connections for the gases; pipe connectors from these headers pass outwards through the casing wall to connect to the external heat exchange units, which each have their own headers for the other fluid, e.g. heating or cooling water, completely outside the main casing. The external header units may comprise a double wall system separating the two fluids and are completely accessible from outside the main casing. Heat exchangers of widely varying sizes can be built up from a standard heat exchange unit, assembled in the required number.
|
