Metal sheathed multicore cable - using single longitudinal bent tape and plastic outer sheath

The edges of the strip are folded radially outwards to butt together, and the raw edges welded, soldered to seal the cable before the web so formed is bent down over the tubular profile of the sheath proper as in the parent patent. To improve the bending flexibility of the cable a longitudinal strand of plastic material e.g. polyethylene copolymer, is interposed between the sheath and the bent over web. A relatively thin coating of thermoplastic polymer which keys to the metal is then applied overall and finally a polyethyelen or PVC outersheath is extruded onto the cable.
