[Also in Division F4] A flexible drying element for removing a diffusible liquid from a liquid-permeable solid material comprises a flexible base coated with a polyethylene oxide having an average molecular weight of at least 100,000 and 0-20% of polyethylene oxide having an average molecular weight of 190-20,000, based on the total weight of polyethylene oxide. The coating may comprise an alumino silicate molecular sieve material, sucrose or dextrose. The base may be paper, coated paper, cellulose acetate, polyethylene terephthalate, polyvinyl acetal, polystyrene, polycarbonate, fabric, metal or glass fibres. The coating composition may comprise water and methanol or acetonitrile. |
