<p>Continuous mfr. of pipe or profiles reinforced with continuous filaments without use of an independent mandrel. Pref. an (annular) array is formed of filaments drawn under controlled tension parallel to the proposed (pipe) axis, through a resin impregnation and polymsn. unit to form a continuous (hollow) mandrel of resin round filaments upon which other filaments are (helically) overlaid and bonded to form an integral (pip) construction. For mfr. of profiles based on continuous glass, boron or carbon filaments, e.g. pipes, silos, shaft linings. Permits mfr. of regular profiles in lengths not restricted by use or cost of internal support mandrels which must be removed or replaced.</p> |
