<p>1345749 Coumarone-indene resin; epoxy resin compositions KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO KK 14 Sept 1971 [14 Sept 1970] 42813/71 Headings C3B and C3P Compositions suitable for use with epoxy resins comprise (1) 50 to 10 parts by weight of a coumarone/indene resin of molecular weight 200 to 1000 and (2) 50 to 90 parts by weight of a propylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon having a boiling point of 300 to 450‹ C., a Gardner colour index of less than 10, a viscosity of less than 10,000 cps. at 25‹ C., an aromatic proton concentration of 15 to 80% as measured by NMR absorption, and an average of 1 to 4 substituent propyl groups per molecule, or a partially hydrogenated product thereof. In examples products obtained by hydrogenating and propylating residues obtained as byproducts in the manufacture of ethylene and acetylene from crude oil are blended with coumarone/indene resins, and added to conventional epoxy resin/curing agent mixtures for the production of floor materials, joint fillers and sealants.</p> |
