Moistening of a strip, e.g. for re-humidifying paper strip coming from a paper machine prior to further processing, is effected by allowing the moistening medium to condense on the strip, the strip esp. being passed through an atmosphere contg. the gaseous moistening medium, at a temp. below the dew point.
