1350857 Kitchen ventilators; stoves A K GAYLORD N C GAYLORD and E C GAYLORD [trading as GAYLORD INDUSTRIES] 13 July 1972 [2 Aug 1971] 32901/72 Headings F4V and F4W A kitchen ventilator comprises a hood 10 which has hollow end walls 12, 13, hollow top wall 14 and an exhaust duct. Fresh air is blown down through the hollow walls, emerges from openings 45, 47 and is directed rearwardly to draw the fumes from the stove 9 to the inlet throat opening 50 of the exhaust duct. The exhaust air flow 52 is extracted by exhaust fan 62 (Fig. 5, not shown) and passes through a grease extractor 55 comprising a series of baffles, an electrostatic precipitator 56 to remove smoke, a charcoal filter 57 to remove odours and finally through a deodorizing chemical spray 58 to remove any residual odours. Spray nozzles 71, 77, 79 are provided for spraying water and detergent on to the grease extractor and electrostatic precipitator to clean them. The liquid is collected in a trough 65 beneath the opening 50. A baffle 67 pivotable about a hinge 40 rotates clockwise to close the exhaust duct in the event of a fire, and spray nozzles 71, 77, 79 are activated.
