The extruder produces a lower temp. rise with higher output and reduced energy, so that it is effective for high viscosity materials. The extruder has five zones in the following sequence (1) inlet with constant section, (2) compression zone, (3) plasticising sheat zone not longer than one eighth the worm length, (4) decompression zone, and (5) outlet zone of constant section. The worm peripheral speed in the compression zone is >13 m/min. The total energy imparted to the mass by the extruder is is not >0.25 kWh/kg. |
