1353381 Comestibles WILKINSON SWORD Ltd 26 Jan 1972 [4 Feb 1971] 3934/71 Heading A2B [Also in Divisions A4 AS C2 C4 C5 and C6] A comestible composition comprises an edible base, a flavourant or colourant and one or more p-menthane-3-carboxylic acid derivatives of the formula wherein R is CONH 2 or COOR<SP>1</SP>, where R is H, an alkali or alkaline earth metal atom, or an ammonium or substituted ammonium radical; a hydroxyaliphatic radical of up to 10 carbon atoms containing a hydroxyl group in the 2- or 3-position and an unsubstituted hydrogen atom in the 1-position, or an acyl or ketal derivative of such a radical; a hydroxyaryl radical having up to 10 carbon atoms and a hydroxy group in the 2- or 3-position relative to the ester grouping; or a carboxyaliphatic radical of up to 10 carbon atoms containing a carboxy group in the 1-, 2- or 3-position, or C 1-4 alkyl ester thereof or an alkali, alkaline earth metal, ammonium or substituted ammonium salt thereof. The compounds may be added to boiled sweet, mint sweets, chewing gum and ice cream. The compounds are capable of stimulating the cold receptors of the nervous system of the human body. |
