<p>1364188 Hinges IHW ENG Ltd 11 April 1973 [19 July 1972] 33670/72 Heading E2F In a door hinge suitable for the rear doors of a van a first hinge leaf 1 is adapted to be connected to a first hinging member 3 for location to a fixed point e.g. the body of the vehicle, a second hinge member 4 has connected thereto a second hinge leaf 2 adapted to be connected to a door of the vehicle, each hinge member 3, 4 being spaced about parallel axes 5, 6 and a rocker member 8 is provided to pivot about an axis 18, parallel to the axes 5, 6, the rocker member 8 having first and second arms 9, 10 adapted to be selectively locked to each hinge member 5 and 6 respectively in turn such than one hinge member is locked and the other is unlocked and viceversa. As shown, the arms 9, 10 of the rocker member 8 may engage into recesses 13, 14 formed in the cylindrical surface of the hinge members 3, 4 respectively. The rotational movement of the hinge levers 1, 2 is limited at least in one direction by a stop member 16, 19 formed on the frame 7 of the hinge assembly. The hinges arranged further to the rear of a van, as shown in Fig. 4, enables the doors to be opened through an arc of approximately 270‹ to enable the doors to lie substantially flat alongside the van.</p> |
