A spark generator or ignition system in which an arc is struck by applying an E.H.T. voltage pulse, of some thousands of volts, across a spark gap, and maintaining the spark by the current from the discharge of a capacitor charged only to an H.T. voltage (typically 400v), which produces spark intensifying energy.
