Gear finishing machine with rotary brush - carriage has limit switches for interrupting brush to exchange workpieces

The rotating brush is slidable together with a drive motor on a carriage which is connected to a compression cylinder. The limit switches of the carriage operate by halves to cause the reversal of the cylinder whilst at the end of one cycle, a stroke counter disengages one limit switch so that the rotating brush remains in a harmless end position as the workpiece is changed. The stroke of the carriage and thus the rotating tool is adapted to the work piece by means of adjustable end stops. The carriage can be swivelled by suitable engine so that different sized workpieces, e.g. gear wheels can be machined with the same tool and the carriage is displaceable vertically to its direction of movement on a bedplate.
