<p>An automatic turning and perforating machine comprises (a) an external frame partly inclined to the horizontal, in which a shaft is mounted rotatably perpendicular to the plane of the base of the inclined part; (b) a series of gripper elements in engagement with and rotatable by the shaft, and having outer bodies with axes of symmetry running parallel to the shaft and arranged along a circle concentric therewith; (c) inner tongs coaxial with and freely rotatable relative to the external bodies, their rotation being controlled by first belt pulleys projecting above the outer bodies; (d) elements for the stepwise rotation of the tongs and for loading and discharging these; (e) a series of turning groups in engagement with and rotating with the shaft and mounted below each of the tongs, each group having a turning head displaceable parallel to the shaft with a tool mounted therein in an inclined position in a plane contg. the shaft axis; (f) a series of perforating groups in engagement with and rotating with the shaft, mounted below each tongs, radially adjacent to the turning groups and each of which consists of a drill rotatable round its own axis and displaceable parallel to the shaft axis, ending in a second belt pulley and having the drill tip in a radial position relative to the point of the turning pool; (g) equipment for partial angular displacement of the perforating groups relative to the tongs above them; (h) a series of cams mounted in the zone of the base of the frame and capable of controlling the displacement of the turning and perforating gps. parallel to the shaft; (j) drives associated with drive units for controlling the rotation of the shaft and the first and second belt pulleys round their axes, each of such first and second pulleys being set in rotation when it traverses a particular arc of the circle described by its own axis based on the rotation of the shaft; and (k) auxiliary devices for lubrication, cooling and removal of skimmed-off matl. The machine allows high speed, automatic prod. of buttons in which the button holes, within certain limits can be spaced at freely regulated distances from each other.</p> |
