Appts. for thawing out and heating of deep-drozen foods in containers has a thawing space with superposed horizontal food receiving chambers, each bounded on both sides by a heating panel as in 2347512. The heating panels are flexible electric heating mats of insulating material with heating conductors embedded in them. Preferably the mats are of glass fibre fabric, and have an Al foil adhered to the outside. The wt. and wall thickness of the heating panels are reduced, and prodn. of them is simplified.
