Spread spectrum communication system using multiple transmission and multiple access technique in space satellite circuits. The sy stem uses a single carrier (5) and the transmitter imparts an additional modulating signal for recognition at the receiving end by special equipment (12). The additional modulating signals (6) imparted at the sending end will cause sub carrier frequencies to be generated. This becomes a code of a carrier modulated by a recognisable signal which is synchronised with the original forming a summated (7) transmitted carrier at the sending end. This composite carrier is resolved at the receiving end with the aid of the extra modulation and the information in the derived sub carriers.
