<p>1407370 Lubricants DOW CORNING CORP 10 Aug 1973 [10 Aug 1972] 38010/73 Heading C5F A composition for lubricating metal surfaces during forming and working comprises 50 to 75% by weight of solid lubricant and 25 to 50% of binder. The solid lubricant comprises 50 to 80% MoS 2 , the balance being graphite, the binder comprises 40 to 60% of carboxymethylcellulose and 40 to 60% of a silane of the formula (RO) +3 Si-(CH 2 ) 3 NHR<SP>1</SP>, a hydrolysate or a partial condensate thereof, where R is an alkyl radical (up to butyl) and R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen, a -(CH 2 ) 2 NH 2 radical or a radical of formula The composition can be dispersed in water, optionally with the addition of bentonite, and metal articles coated by dipping them in the dispersion and allowing them to dry. Other solvents referred to are methanol, ethanol and isopropanol, and other methods of application are trowelling, brushing and spraying. The composition can be removed by washing with water.</p> |
